Steffensmeier Health Law PLLC was established in 2026 as a solo law practice. I have practiced law in Iowa for 15 years, building a career grounded in health care regulation and compliance.

For a decade, I served as an Assistant Attorney General, acting as counsel to multiple health care professional licensing boards. Through that work, I developed a deep understanding of how the boards operate and was involved in hundreds of cases, investigations, and administrative hearings.

My background also includes in-house experience at a Fortune 5 company in the health care sector, where I focused on enterprise-level risk mitigation for pharmacy benefit coverage. That role sharpened my ability to identify emerging compliance issues and design strategies to prevent small problems from becoming larger ones. It also gave me a clear understanding of how to help patients access the coverage they are entitled to under their health plans and the law.

I look forward to applying my prior experience in this new chapter as a solo practitioner and serving Iowa’s health care community.

On a personal note, I live in Des Moines with my husband and two children.
